I watched The Social Network for the first time last night (Well, I guess this monring, technically).
Odd to consider, given that I'm a teenage boy who came of age in the years since the movie came out.
You'd think I would've seen it on like Showtime or HBO in the middle of a Sunday a million times over by now, but alas.

The movie made me think about a hundred different things at the same time, but what struck me most was how much Zuck's agenda in the movie was based around Erica. It was a crazy good portrayal of that kind of gross masculinity. Something I didn't even consider is why he does that to the Winkelvi twins, besides just being a sniveling little guy who sees an opportunity to get ahead in the world.

When Erica breaks up with Zuck at the top of the film, what kind of person does she say she likes? Crew guys. The moment Cameron and Tyler mention they do crew, there's a glint in Zuck's eye from then on out. He resents them for something they couldn't have possibly even intended: possess traits he just can't have. Every action he makes, every single thing he does to screw someone else over basically boils down to be in service of his own insecurities and need for human connection.

Anyway, it's been a pretty fine day all things considered. Got up a little on the later side, just because I went to bed at about 3am or so. Weather was fantastic on my way over to the dining hall; it made me incredibly glad I chose to shower so late last night and just be able to roll out of bed relatively clean and get out.

I honestly don't even remember what I eat on a daily basis anymore. Commons is kind of the best option I have for getting food at this point, given that I don't necessarily feel too comfortable having food in the house that I can lose control over and gorge on in one or two sittings. I've tried to cut back on the immense number of french fries I'm getting there (and it helps that I'm just not a tater tot guy, a fact both fortunate and un- at the same time), and the bowls of cereal after every plate of food probably aren't doing my organs or the flab under my chin any good if I'm being completely honest with myself right now.

After I got back from the dining hall, most of the rest of the day kind of became a blur, and not in the fast-paced sense. I remember actively choosing to go and sit out on the balcony of the apartment because it would be insane to waste this kind of brisk, cloudless day sitting inside and doing fuckall, but it would've probably been better to actually go and walk or ride my bike around somewhere instead of sitting in a lawn chair on a balcony and trade Pokemon back and forth for a couple hours.

It wasn't entirely a waste, I guess. I listened to the new Blank Check episode on Steve Jobs, a movie I watched the other day in quasi-preparation for the episode and neither disappointed. I absolutely loved the movie, even if a couple stilted moments and weird choices put me off the slightest bit. Great Movie! I also took some pictures of the view from my balcony that I really liked, especially with how flat the horizon seemed to be, the menagerie of buildings and roadways and trees and cars, and the vast expanse of the stark blue sky. I'm by no means a photographer, but I thought it looked pretty sharp.
Way better than the last time I tried sitting out there and doing something, when I tried hanging out in ~20 degree temperatures (with wind chill) and playing Pokemon Violet in a winter coat, hat, and snow gloves. I still haven't finished the last few objectives of the game. I should get around to that.

I'll probably go ahead and grab something to eat soon. It'll almost definitely be from Commons again. There's a ton of bread in the sandwiches from Create, however refreshing they can be, and Panda Express is just too salty and sickening and inconsistent as to how well some certain things are cooked. Plus, I don't have to lug my water bottle over to Commons the same way I have to do for Jones. When they just give us the cups and say "Have at it" regarding hydration, it's a lot easier to actually drink water. Otherwise I have to end up buying one of those drink cups at Jones, and what kind of loser gets water from a soda dispenser like that?
Anyway, I'll try and watch Michael Clayton later, I think. I love Clooney and I've been getting into these more serious movies. Animated stuff and comedies just aren't hitting the same right now, and the only movie I have on my shelf that even feels like it would sate that itch is Miami Vice and I know I need as much attention focused on that as I can possibly spare.
